That makes that one very special top! We can certainly help you with a SBC!
You are reminding me of your comment about "If you want to confuse, write it in cursive"! How many today would have any idea what a foot starter is or, what the extra pedal next to the brake is for....
The top looks like it is in excellent condition. Who made the top?
Is that a 72' El Camino setting next to it?
Drive it and enjoy it 56'! When you are ready go after that seal. Until then keep some oil handy and the RPM's low.
Having the rubber dry up is the norm AJ-MJ. Even some of the best "stored" vintage vehicles will fall prey to that. No gas in the tank might mean it was drained and possibly the carb was run dry. If...
That is the same set up as my 3A original starter. I had to adjust my switch several times to get it just right. I love the foot pedal linkage starter setup gm. When it is setup right, it is pretty...
A perfect step back in time! The Garand is just one more piece in a fine attention to detail.
Hahaha! Yes we would LarrBeard, an excellent description.
You do have to chuckle at the stuff you see on this Internet sometimes! I think someone forgot about the exhaust. The cylinder head may flow enough, the in the block exhaust valves however never,...
I have to agree gm, at nowhere near 7,500 rpm we can expect to see many holes in the oil pan! Very clear what to do with that cylinder head. Leave it on Facebook. Note its " Never been run, Outlaw...
Good stuff there 56'. The oil pump, what a disaster!
AJ-MJ Black soot on the plugs is as gm said, much better than anything else. I would say probably idling with the choke on before she got shut...
Way to fly 56'! You have the right idea. Stay true to your values 56', I for one think it the most important thing you will do.
Don't forget the rears!

I agree Cat, he has a ton of work on this baby!
I see he fabricated some body mounts. On the rear wheel bearings, they are greased with a zerk in the axle tube. You apply grease until it purges...
Rope seals are installed by packing them in to the block. The crank needs to be out. I have the KW seal in mine.
Wow hard to diagnose noise when you have to describe it sometimes. I think Cat has you on a good start. Make sue it isn't something vibrating when you let off the throttle. Resonance is hard to find....
Oh man AJ-MJ, and so it begins! I can't wait to see how she survived the wait. I am sure you are going to have some good projects to conquer. Take some pictures for us.
56' is our hope for the next generation.
It could be a few spots leaking 56'. Because it occurred after a hard run, the pan seal especially at the rear, is very suspect. If you decide to go in there, once you pull the pan you are very close...
Unbelievable sacrifice from our Veterans. Thank you to those who gave it all.
Your close gm. I think you found enough to get info from the historical society of Garland. They will probably have the history of the address. I bet the place with the horses out front is it.
The...
Good thought gm, make sure 56'. Is it loosing oil on the dipstick?
You don't have to "pull" the crank. It will make it easier if you loosen the main caps. I would definitely give a try,...
Great idea 56'!
Looking good 56"! What a great time with three generations, favorite cars, at the show!
Nicely done 56', way to go man!
It is a big job to go after that oil leak if it is the rear main seal....
Some great shots of the waterproof setup there Hdk! It looks like you have her ready for the show now.
