    1960 L6226 Jeep Pick-up, Neal Brown

Hello, My name is Neal Brown. I purchased my 1960 Jeep L6226 pick-up in the late 1980's and restored it in 1994. The engine and drive train have never been apart and works perfectly. Although the body and interior have been restored the engine is original and unrestored. I have restored the truck to origninal as best as I can and need information in restoring the engine. it is a L6226 Super Huricane engine - can anyone tell me what the engine color was? I can tell it was red but would like to have a paint color code. If someone has photos of an original engine that would be very helpful.

Wow, what a beautiful pickup! I'm restoring a 1958 pickup that looks like it used to be the same color (see my forum thread).

I'm not sure what paint color code was used for the engines. I know that the high altitude engines were bright red. The Kaiser Willys website has old paint codes for the body colors for 1960 (see President Red). Don't know if this is what you're looking for or not. I'm planning to rebuild my 6-226 engine soon, so I'm curious as well.

    Welcome Neal Brown.
Very nice looking rig. You have landed on the right forum for information. Just be patient and look around. Information is here, you just have to find it. If you cannot find it, just ask, someone will offer a solution for you.

Sorry its been so long since I checked out the site. When I bought the truck it was imposible to tell it was this color. It was not until i removed the truck bed and found a section on the back of the cab that revealed the original color.
I also have A military FC170 dual rear wheel that I would like to sell. It also has the L6226 engine. The engine runs but otherwise the truck needs a lot of work.

I also have a 60 Willys Pickup with the same engine, I’ve been told the original engine color was blue but have nothing to back it up. I was told this by the shop manager of a classic restoration shop..9BCEFCDB-61DD-476B-ABFE-AB52B8BB9A03.jpg
