    starter grinds

    I'm having a problem with my starter not engaging correctly on my 1951 jeepster .
    I just had the starter checked and tested it's good but it still wont engage correctly
    I realy need to solve this any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Sometimes a starter needs shims for the teeth to mesh with the flywheel. When a starter is replaced sometimes a person doesnt remember or even notice them when putting it back on.

    so the shims go between the starter and the bell housing ?
    the problem has fixed its self for now anyway.
