    L134 Crankshaft weights

    I am restoring a 1952 M38. The machine shop doing the motor found the bolts which attach the counter balance weights to the crankshaft welded to the shaft. They had never seen this before and they have been in business since 1963. This was their first 134L. Why were the bolt heads welded to the shaft?
