    Brake Problems - CJ3A

While I'm at it - let me also plea for help on the brakes:

I currently have to pump the brakes three times to get pedal after doing the following:

    replacing all four wheel cylinders
adjusting eccentrics on all four wheels
bleeding the brakes at least 4 times
    replacing the master cylinder

Perhaps I am not bleeding them correctly

I'm not a brake guy, but two questions come to mind:

A: How many times have the drums been turned? If they are oversized, they can need a longer throw to get things going.

    B. Brake linings? New, worn?

    C. Here's a place to get more information:

These folks know everything about CJ-3's

Hey LarrBeard, I never answered your questions:

Drums turned - no idea - they look good to me.
Brake linings - new on the rear, front look good probably 1/8" thickness and not brittle

Front eccentrics were not working properly, so I replaced one and the bottom adjusters were frozen - I tore down the front hubs this past weekend and have cleaned everything and will re-assemble and try it again. It is probably a combination of eccentric/bleeding issues.

Are you seeing the pads move on the first few pumps?
