So my 48 Pickup came with 2 old Toyota bucket seats that I have no intention of putting back. Most of the pictures I have seen show the pickups with a 70/30 or 60/40 split bench which is what I want to put back in. Knowing how Willys operated back then by utilizing parts off of one vehicle to make another, can anyone tell me if the PU bench seat was a back seat and passenger seat of the same era Jeeps?.

I don't have a seat for my truck either, got to come up with a plan as well.

Hey, Ash. A buddy of mine mentioned that Willys interchanged there parts so much that it was likely the seats from a CJ might fit the pickup. If its true I would imagine that most of the parts stores would advertise that since it would open a larger market for their seat frame sales. Since I didnt have original seats in mine I dont really know how they were supposed to be mounted. You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of the original mounts for a pickup floating around do you?

No Cal my truck just has a bare floor, there were two buckets sitting in there out of a GT Falcon I believe when I got it but not bolted in. Dave mentioned earlier that a bench seat out of an early model Ford ute fits in. I havn't given much thought what I am going to do yet,I'll wait until the cab is back on the chassis.

the original seat was just a simple bench seat with seperate base and backrest sections.

and this is the clear floor. the seat base was bolted to the floor and the backrest was bolted at the top on small hinges that allowed it to move out at the bottom. the board you see going across the back of the cab was the seat adjuster. for taller people you fold the board up against the cab to let the seat go back further , short people would fold the board down to hold the seat back forward. very simple and limited. the seat anchor points look fairly small compared to todays safety standards.

Thanks guys for the info. Dave love the pics and the info about the seat adjuster. I was kind of wondering if there was any type of seat adjustment. Also Dave my truck doesnt have the little "toolbox" option under the seat. Mine has the little door access on the side of the box pretty much where your serial number plates are. Ash I got a response from a guy that has a ton of used Willys parts. He sent me some pics (below) of a seat he has for sale. He wants $350 so I think I will pass and possibly build my own since I know how they go now thanks to you guys. One other thing Dave...your steering wheel is on the wrong side. You might want to fix that.680681682

Dave can you do me a huge favor and give me the dimensions of your seat frame?

no worries Cal. maybe i should put a steering wheel on both sides just to confuse everyone. lol.

i will measure up the seats in the nest couple of days and get some more pics. they are out of the truck now.
i have seen a few different styles of floor . the old `59-`69 model 6-226 that we had when i was young had openings to the storage areas at the front of the seat base and i have also seen older ones with the holes at the sides.

i never got to see the original seat in the 6-226 we had because apparently the previous owner`s farm dogs ate the seat when it was pretty new. but it had the same seat adjuster board on the back of the cab. the seats in your pics could quite likely be the corect ones for the very early models, but it dosnt look very comfy.
i think that the truck i have now is the only one that i have seen with an original seat.
