The truck I am restoring had its original nameplate mounted in the engine compartment on the driver's side of the firewall, just inboard of the hood hinges. (Yes, I know all of the literature says it's on the driver's left side, by the tool box door - but not on this one...). That nameplate had to be removed when I registered the vehicle in Indiana in 1969 since my Tennessee title had an engine number on it - that engine being long gone - and of course I had to get a new MVIN number. Since a vehicle can't have two numbers, I had to remove the original nameplate.
As I recall, the original nameplate had information on it regarding max vehicle weight vs. tire size. None of the universal replacement nameplates match my recollections of this original plate.
Does anyone have a similar nameplate I could use for a sample to get a new one made?
