Hi all!
Under the heading of "the worst wounds are self inflicted....."
I inherited a broken off exhaust stud in the '57 wagon we have - in the original flat head six. (The first stud just behind the water pump). At any rate, managed to drill it and tap it....except the tap bottomed out inside the block and the tip broke off. Yep, the broken off tip fell down inside the block into what appears to be a void in the water jacket. I can get the broken off tip up to the threaded hole with a magnet, but it is just too big to come out and I have no way to get a hold of it to unscrew it back out either. My question is, will removing the head get me access to the water jacket so that I can retrieve the broken off tap tip? I've not had a flat head apart before so I am in the dark about what to expect.
Thanks!
Lyle
