Ok, so I’ve started pulling parts off and cleaning them on my MB project. Started with the air cleaner and air manifold. In doing so I noticed that the manifold has an air nipple badly welded in to it about 3” from the air cleaner. There was an air line ran from this nipple to the upper rear of the carb where a factory port, but relatively new air nipple is. Does this sound correct to you folks? It doesn’t look right to me, the manifold itself needs some attention, but the weld definitely looks joe-blow garage mechanic, and I don’t see why there would be a second air line running to the carb behind the butterfly valve. It’s all apart now but this is a picture from before cleaning and disassembly.
