My 1945 Ford GPW is very hard to start when the engine is hot. I have to hold down the gas pedal and grind away on the starter, eventually it will start. I have read on numerous forums that this is a common problem but have not found a solution.

You don't say how many hours/miles are on the engine since overhaul. Hard start, hot is common with worn rings and low compression.

Have you checked compression with a hot engine?

Thank you for your reply, yes I have checked the compression and it is perfect. Also, 500 miles since major overhaul. Runs great, I drive it everyday when the weather is good but it is just very hard to start when the engine is hot. I changed the carburetor, remanufactured from Kaiser Willys, I insulated the fuel line thinking it might be vapor lock but that did not help. It seems to be flooding but I cannot figure out why.
