Electronic distributor for 1951 question

Today I installed an electronic distributor on my 1951 m38 4 cylinder. Tht instructions call for a "resistor". The engine runs without resistor. will this caust problems? Thanks for helping.

ALL have to have a resistor. You either have a internal or external resisting coil. You have to wire it accordingly or you will ruin the module in the electronic distributor.
