I maybe over thinking the obvious answer here, but here goes.
The VIN ID for a 4 cylinder Jeepster is 463, and for the 6 cylinder it’s 663, correct? I purchesaded my ‘49 6 cylinder from the owner stating “original engine and drive train”. Well, my VIN is “463” so, the correct assumption would be that this is not the original engine, right?
Was it possible in 1949 for a “463” to come with a 6 cylinder?
Is there any way to identify when the engine was produced? Does Willys have an engine decoder?
*Title typo... 4 cylinder “vs” 6... don’t know where “brings” came from
