Just replaced my Solex carburetor with a Carter YF. The power was greatly increased. Runs much smoother. Smooth acceleration. Starts easier. This is on a 1962 F 134 engine. The increase in over all performance is unbelievable.

I can't discount that there being something wrong with the Solex to give you problems and performance issues, but - the Carter YF was what the F-134 engine was designed around. New and improved isn't necessarily so.
