Overdrive

I have a 1957 Willys Pickup with 4WD. There is an Overdrive knob and cable and a switch that appears to be added for power wire that runs back to the end of the cable. The tech manual says OD was optional on 2WD models. I don't see anything on my transmission to hook to........was there OD on 4WD models also?

There was not an electric overdrive for the 4X4 models. There is an aftermarket overdrive that mounts to the back of the transfer case. You can find used units out there on eBay and the like.

So, in speculating with the previous owner, we think they adapted the OD cable and added a wire for a winch. Clearly never was a OD.

Sounds like you have a case of barnyard engineering. Not uncommon with Heeps.
