I've never seen a provision to store a manual under the hood of a military of civilian Jeep. It would not be a good place to store a manual; dirty, wet, oily, bugs ... etc. But, one of the Laws of Jeep is:

Never say "Willys never ...".

I have seen canvas "book bags" that were used for a variety of books and manuals and one of these could have been used to stash a Jeep manual somewhere.

Interesting Question..

And, I second the notion that every Jeep owner should have a manual for their vehicle and a parts book as well. KWAS has a good library for just about everything and several other sources do as well.

thanks. have downloaded a lubrication chart for a start.

There is a lubrication chart that goes under the hood. The chart would have been waxed paper or something to that effect. The picture enclosed would have been perfect if it was panned a little to the right.
