Mr. Google and a lot of other folks say it was on the firewall, about in front of the passenger's knees.

Google "CJ5 Battery Tray" for more than you probably wanted to know... .

I found a picture of a 58 CJ5 engine bay on this site and finally have a w-1103 parts list manual. The battery tray is at the front right inner fender near the radiator. I still need either a photo to fabricate one or to buy one. Help plz.

Just shooting from the hip, but if the picture shows the right front, behind the radiator, then the battery tray for a CJ 2A through 3B would get you in the ballpark. Check with the folks over at earlycj5.com. They might have more information to what you are looking for.
