I'm a volunteer at the National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis. Appearance wise our truck is like an airplane; pretty on the top side, not as pretty underneath. But it is a nice truck.
Right now I'm replacing/rebuilding the entire brake system (Bendix type 11 on a Dana 53 rear axle and Dana 25 front axle). I will be starting a new thread soon with some specific questions.
We are looking forward to when we will be able to drive it!
Thanks
Phil

At the Toledo Jeep Fest in August there were two Jeep fire trucks that had been used at the Owens-Corning Glass works in Toledo and later passed along to other fire departments. One of then looks like your truck's twin.

That is definitely "pretty on the outside". The mechanical aspect will be well worth it on a perfect body like that. A ton of the restore process is in the body etc. Everything that looks great on yours. You are more than half way to a perfect truck. Some rare stuff on that rig!

Another fire truck conversion was for the CJs. This example was from a small farming community in IL. It was in service until the late '80s to where it was sold at auction. At that time it had under 10,000 on the clock.

It stayed in the original fire department family, so to speak. One of the long time members bought it to keep close. I'd be willing to bet that it is still in the family.
