Bell housing

Easy one gentlemen... got my bell housing squeaky clean and grease free but she is flash rusting. I know how to deal with that. My question is, after seeing what looks like paint inside and out, can I sand blast, prime, and paint the entire thing or will painting the inside cause trouble with what’s inside?
