Coolant sending unit

What is the connector that's used from sending unit to guage? Wire, cable? I'll be using the combination speedometer/guage cluster with indicator/idiot light.

I think you're asking about your '59 CJ-5.

The standard sensor is the one shown here.

There is nothing exotic about getting it hooked up. Connection is just a crimp lug on a wire in the harness. I'd put a nut on the threaded stud, then the crimp lug and a lock washer and another nut.

Now, finding the wire in the harness may be the fun part if the wiring harness has been worked on.
