Faulty alternator, which brand/source?

Seller replaced a Delco Remy reman OReillys GM 10SI with noisy bearing, now it's occurring again under my ownership. I'd rather avoid this even though it's covered under a useless lifetime warranty, looking for suggestions for a quality alternator.

Double check your pulley alignment. Pulleys not on the same plane or not parallel can cause bearing failure.

Yes, I looked closer when installing the replacement, seems a hair off, though it looks normal under load. Appears the lower bracket was made with some angle and welded. Overall good fit, but may see if I can get it perfect with spacer on the lower.

If it fails again, I may upgrade to the KW kit.

Any quality GM 10SI should last for you. As LarrBeard points out below, there are some "Crap Shoots" out there. Almost all the low cost rebuilds are coming from Mexico. Those could be questionable. Check the manufacturing location. If you are failing some good ones, 51 CJ3 has a good suggestion. The alignment especially parallel to the front of the block, is almost as important as the tension on the belt for the bearing. The bearing is designed to take load in only one direction.

Thanks for the feedback. Looking at the lower bracket, it's well made but the alignment seems just a tad off, I will look at it further to see if I can shim bottom or if top spacer needs trimming or slight shim. Good advice, and the more I thought about it, being the second with the same issue, seeing the slight alignment, highly plausible that is the root cause. I will call KW tomorrow about their bracket also. I agree with the rebuilds. As far as I can tell, the NAPA one is rebuilt in Alabama by BBB Industries, so that is promising.

Looking further at it, it appears the top mount is about half inch/less back towards the engine block, from perfect alignment. I think a thick washer/shim, longer bolt on the top and the bottom can put it into proper alignment.

I will try Fastenal tomorrow, so if I can get this one permanently sorted.
