VIN Number

Hi all, Looking at a 1955 Willy CJ5 Jeep. Problem is there is no VIN Tag or ownership. Does anyone know if the Vin number is stamped on these CJ5 frames? Thanks

I found this picture. The post indicated there should be a serial number on the frame at the red circle. They were discussing a 1958 CJ5.

Yes, front passenger side frame rail. Just behind the battery tray. It should be stamped on the top of the frame. Tip; if it's covered in grime, spraying some wd40 on it , that should make the letters stand out. And a wire brush is good too.

I'll just add that the number is on the top of the frame in this location, right where the fender attaches to get body. So, if the fender is still attached, it will be difficult to see the number.
