I inherited a m38 1952 willys jeep from my dad after he passed. I am fixing it up and returning it back to military condition. It has been running good but now it starts good and i can drive it for a short distance and then it starts to miss like and loose power. I let it set and then it does the same thing over again.

Welcome Mark! What happens if you give it some choke when it starts to run bad?

Welcome aboard Mark!
As Bmorgil alluded to, if you pull the choke out to richen the fuel mixture, does the engine run better? If it does, then you have a fuel supply issue. If not, then I would take a compression check with the engine cold, then again with it warm. If the numbers drop when warm, then I would lean toward a sticking piston ring(s). Hopefully it is a fuel supply issue, but if not, there are a couple of farmer's tricks that you can do to loosen up the stuck rings from the carbon that has built up. I would read the spark plugs first to see what they look like.
