Within the last week I have become the proud owner of a 1963 CJ5. I’m not really interested in doing a full restoration, at least not now. I bought it for $1200, and intend to use it as a utility vehicle at my second home in northern WI. Planning on using it to go into town, and short distances to my favorite trout streams and grouse trails. I could have easily purchased any vehicle for this purpose, but the Jeep has a very high cool factor, and I think certainly worth the time and money. It needs a new gas tank, lines, fuel pump, complete brake job, and a few other minor things to run, or so I am told. (I purchased the CJ from one of my employees, so I’m hopeful what he claims is in fact true, it would be in his best interest). My first step is to really make sure the engine runs, then I’ll start buying the needed parts. I’d be interested in hearing from anyone who might be able to offer some sage advice to a newbie.

It photographs more blue than it is. It's sort of a green, but I can't determine which color it is from the samples for 1963. Do you know what color it is?

Rims are not original, I'll be replacing them with the smaller, original ones.
