determining paint color

I am curious if you can deceifer the original paint color for a CJ2A from the tags on it? ALso, I am curious about the different rim colors I see in old photos. Were the rim colors random?
I have a 47 and I am deciding whether to put it back in original colors when I restore it (the bottom layer of paint is yellow) or do a ww2 Canadian army jeep out of it. I am used to restoring muscle cars where the fender tag tells you everything about the original colors on the vehicle.
