Help please, I bought my first willys a 48 cj 2a. It runs but only on 3/4 choke. I have checked for leaks and came up with nothing, but I noticed that the fuel pump bulb has very little fuel in it, just enough to see gas. Does anyone know how much fuel should be in the glass bowl? Thanks Craig
Try removing the gas line to the carb...put the end into a jar and crank the engine (with the coil wire removed of course)...if gas spurts out , the pump is probably OK...if it just dribbles into the jar, there is insufficient fuel pressure and the pump is junk...this could be why you have to use 3/4 choke...you need to have 3 to 4 psi at the carb...try taking the carb apart and clean the insides...you'd be amazed at the junk that gets past the filter.
