When I click "post an image" and choose uploading from my computer, I select and hit open then nothing happens.

Goose, what internet browser are you using? There is a lot of issues with Chrome and some other browsers. I am using Firefox without problems. Just to be sure, it takes a few minutes for the image to upload. Here is a post that has the process. Let me know if you need more help.
