My new to me 53

Just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Mike and I have a Jeep problem...lol

I recently picked up what I was told at least is a 53' Willys MB. I acquired it from my neighbors just two houses down. It was a early 80's resto-mod when he bought it to fix up and use as a fun around town cruiser. His plans changed and he lost interest he cleaned up the frame and ran new brake lines. When he first bought it, the PO had swapped out the front axle to and I-beam axle and terribly fabbed in a rack and pinion set up. The rear has been replaced with a Ford 8" with drums. the body work and fab is super scary...

My plans are simple, fix the bad body work and fab. Put a LQ9 LS engine, NV3500 5spd, keep the rear and make it a nice resto-mod.

Not exactly what most on here will like but, its what I like. I want to use as many factory parts as I can, but keep it safe at the same time.

I will post pics and I will be looking for advise and info on some things very shortly..
