My 3A has an older Solex. It didn’t give me any trouble after I went through it. I found the base gasket to be a bit of a pain because there isn’t much for it to sit on and can be bumped out of...

Carbs are pretty easy. Just be careful to track the parts that come out. Not much worse than turning one upside down and wondering where those parts on the bench fell from. Having a good parts...
I have read talk of the new solex carbs being picky about how much fuel pressure they need. Some people have had to run a fuel pressure regulator between the fuel pump and the carb. I will see if I...
That’s a good possibility too. Especially if it was parked with E-10 in the gas tank.
Nice looking jeep. The picture even posted right side up which better than most of my attempts!
To go with the above idea I’ll throw in a possible air leak. Possibly a crack in the intake that allows more air in when it warms up.
Another boat “crank” story: the same guy a couple weeks later...
By “cranks”, do you mean it starts and/or runs?
edit: I get a little cranky on some of this stuff. I got called out on a service call a short while back. The call was motor wouldn’t crank so I...
I found this picture. The post indicated there should be a serial number on the frame at the red circle. They were discussing a 1958 CJ5.

This looks a lot better than the holes through the floor my CJ5 had.
Better off saving those lottery ticket dollars. I have been playing the lottery most of my adult life. I played every powerball drawing for a couple of years. Now it’s just a couple of times a year...
If you mean the new Warns, I bought mine at my local NAPA 4-5 years ago. They were also available on Amazon then. I haven’t looked recently.
I replaced an old set of Dualmatics with new Warns. Haven’t done any serious off roading with these but Warns I had on other vehicles never gave me any trouble.
KW also sells them:

Personally, I have never cared for nutserts. It may just be my experience with aluminum aircraft structures but I consider them unreliable. Even the ones with tabs don’t hold their position very long...
Just a thought… I have had batteries go bad in multimeters. The results can be rather interesting and unpredictable. The first one showed 250v on a nail in the siding of my house. It turned out the...
I thought I would post pictures of flux core vs. gas shielded wire feed welding. The welds in both pictures show the welder doesn’t really have a clue but they were both done with the same machine...
Sheetmetal brakes are handy. Back when I could afford to buy welders, I also bought a 4 foot box and pan brake with radial fingers and a shear from Mittler Brothers. Very nice tools and much more...
I have bought a lot from KW. I agree about them having good customer service although I get better technical support in this forum.
I screwed up years ago. I turned in my original brake master cylinder in to NAPA for a core. Got back a foreign piece of junk that didn’t quite fit the mount holes. It works but it has always...
The alloy of the stainless makes a huge difference. So does the cleanliness of the metal. I was practicing on stainless hose clamps before trying to tig weld a stainless exhaust. The exhaust broke...
All we had was a stick welder when I took high school shop. College introduced me to oxy for welding but I dropped the course. Not a wire feed welder in sight back there. I don’t even remember seeing...
I bought mine at NAPA around 2003. It sits folded up in the corner too much which is why the valve has gotten sticky. I have used it to lift a lot of things. I have even used it as a jack but I don’t...
I remembered a couple more pluses to tig. It is possible to weld without filler metal. I needed to repair a shop door latch by capping a 3/8” rod with a washer yesterday. I used the tig torch heat up...
Sounds like me last winter. I must have been sick half a dozen or more times. Last winter was the first time I had skipped the flu shot in probably 30 years. I didn’t have a choice in the military...
The check valve in my hoist has started sticking a little. It acts like there isn’t any oil in it but it starts working if I tap on the pump a little. I was thinking about cleaning valve but an...
