Repop seats aren't too cheap. Sometimes you can find originals for a reasonable price. A good place to look for them is the G503 forum. Lots of good information on the ww2 jeeps there.
Nice. Does it have The Willys name stamped on the rear panel? The early 42 jeeps are known as script jeeps. They had the Ford or Willys name stamped on the lower left of the rear panel. This was...
Are the seats missing? After making a frame you would still need to make the crossbraces for the bottom and the back pan and lower pan. If you have the seats you could use those. Think I would just...
Sorry Jeep, I don't check in on here very often, but I try to answer if I can.
Grats on the MB. I have a 42 MB. The date of delivery will be on one of the data tags on the glovebox. If it is missing, you can look for the serial number on the frame tag. It is located on the...
Dh, the serial number on GPWs is also stamped into the top of the frame on the left side. Usually right in front of or near the motor mount.
Welcome DoubleOught from a fellow Texan. Good luck with the project.
Welcome Larry. Looks like a nice project. Never messed with any of the trucks or wagons myself. Mostly into the MBs, GPWs, and CJs. Good luck with her.
Welcome fellow Texan. Willys vehicles seem to be addictive. I have 5 Jeeps now. Always plenty to work on but never enough time or money!
Welcome Mike. Grats on getting the Jeep back in shape. There always seems to be something to do on them but that's part of the fun.
Hey Dan. Welcome to the forum. I'm in the hill country of Texas myself. Jeep looks to be pretty decent. They are a lot of fun to mess with. Have 5 of em myself!
Two of the levers are for the transfer case. The other may be for an overdrive.
Brad, the military version of the CJ-5, which is the M38-A1 had that indentation. It had a slave receptacle that a cable could be plugged into to jump another jeep or power other equipment.
I would lean more toward the 1954. From your pics it looks like it has the 5 separate gauges. In early 57 they changed to the large speedometer with the integral fuel and temp gauge like on the...
Looking good.
I believe it should be at 6 o'clock.
The 2A and 3As have a tool box under the passenger seat.
Welcome to the forum. Nice collection there. That 2A looks like an easy restore. Looks like a GPW or MB passenger seat.
Yeah, tubs can get kind of expensive.
Welcome to the forum. Nice find there.
If its a 3A or earlier, it probably had a Carter WO. You may be talking about the Solex carburetor. Tried one on my 3A but went back to the WO. Many times with the Solex, you have to use a fuel...
May be too much wear on the throttle shaft or body. This can let in too much air causing a lean condition at idle.
Welcome Trevor. Always good to see another jeep back on the road.
Looks like a nice project. Enjoy working on it.
