I was just giving this some thought and being that I just had this generator worked on and they put new fields in it is it possible to put them in wrong so as to run negative voltage?
I double checked all my connections and had everything right. I started engine and I have around 12volts at idle and as I increase engine speed it goes up to 40 plus but meter still shows minus sign....
Ok I will let you know. Thank you so much for your help
Only other question is do I use 6 volt battery or 12 volt like the Jeep is
If you connect one lead of the volt meter to the armature then where do you connect the other lead?
Have you ever heard of installing a longer shackle on one side to even it out?
Does anyone else have an issue with drivers side of cj5 being lower than passenger side? I have 1964 cj5 that I completely redid. Seems like body and frame are sitting on an angle but axle is...
I will check the ground again. Not sure what you mean full field the generator but I did do the polarity with the regulator. Not sure where to go from here
The light is only on when running. Not sure what the 2 wires hooked to the idiot light do as one goes to regulater and other to ignition switch. Only ground wire I see is the ground wire from...
Can anyone help me out with a problem I have with my amp light staying on all the time. Had the generator overhauled along with a new voltage regulator. My amp light has a wire going to the ignition...

1964 cj5 restoration project of two years
Thanks so much. This is my project of two years
I can’t figure out how to put pictures on here. Can you help me out
Thanks. I guess what upsets me about it all is when they tell you it is for your Jeep they should tell you it might not work. Very misleading. I have spent thousands of dollars on this restoration...
Have a 1964 cj5 and trying to get ignition switch to fit my existing dashboard hole. Why would Kaiser sell one that is too small on the diameter and one with no slot on the threads to line it up....
I have a front mount ramsey winch on my jeep and was wondering how you use the winch without the jeep moving. I cant figure out where the shifters have to be to get it right
I am keeping my original brakes. Bought new shoes, all new lines, wheel cylinders, new master cylinder and all new emergency brake stuff.
I am restoring a cj5 and I would like to know what size the bushings are supposed to be in the front axle spindles. This is a 1964
I'd like to show you pictures but I can't figure out how to put them on here
I'm new to this site. I have a cj5 1964 that we are doing a total restoration on. Have frame and axles powdercoated and back on. Working on engine now. Painting it and will install it next week
