    New guy with a '49

Just wanted to pop in and say hey. I just picked up a 1949 Jeepster. It is a two owner vehicle and the last guy had stripped it down and completed the body work before passing away. I was able to buy it from the son and will be doing a frame up restoration. I am just finishing up a '79 CJ5 and wanted to get a Commando for my son and I to rebuild so he'd have a car when he turns 16. Unfortunately, for him not me, I found this '49 to restore for myself. I agreed to sell my CJ5 to get him a commando next year. One question for you, what and where can I get a good manual for doing this restoration? I'm pretty mechanical and was able to work from a Chilton's on my CJ5 but it was trying at times.

I will be documenting the process here. http://www.crossroadswood.com/flatiron.html
