    Column shift conversion

    Just starting to restore my 1965 cj and looking for advice in changing
    it over from a column shift to a floor shifter. i have spent a little time scanning
    this subject in this forum and surprisingly didn't find one thread
    can anyone give me a little direction on keeping the same transmittion and doing this conversion

    I'd suggest that you go and check out the "CJ" forums. They tend to have a lot more technical info than this site.

    I'm not any authority on the "little Jeeps", but it seems not to be that big a deal. Find a top-shifter transmission, cut a hole in the top of the tunnel and bolt it in. I kfloor shift 4WD transmissions.now in the trucks, even the column shift 2WD trucks have plates on the tunnel for

    (Of course it's simple since I don't have to do it - but remember Murphy's Jeep Law # 2 - "Nothing is as simple as it seems on a Jeep")

    Murphy's Jeep Law # 1 is "What you see is what you have - nobody else may have one like it"
