Question regarding the installation of data plates

    Hello everyone,
I am in the last stages of restoring a 1953 Willys M38A-1. As part of that project, I purchased new data plates. The plates came with little brass tubular rivets. I have been unable to find out how to properly mount the new plates using these tiny rivets. Is there a special tool or technique for doing this? I thought about taking a phillips screwdriver to spread the rivets and then gently flattening them with a hammer so that it the data plate stays attached to the steel plate I plan to use to display the new data plates on the dash. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thank all of you in advance for your replies.
