    Very true.

Although I have gotten spoiled on tinkering with southern vehicles. If it wasn't for actually cutting metal, I wouldn't need my acetylene torch since hardware actually can be removed without heating first. I helped a guy strip down a mid 80's Ford short bed to the bare frame. From start to finish, we had about six hours for both of us to have everything removed. No torch, and the wiring was all disconnected instead of cut. Too bad all my Heeps came from the rust belt.

Exactly why I prefer any vehicle from a dry climate. I have a 77' pickup from Arizona I bought in the 90's. I remember grabbing a Cresent wrench and removing the bumper with ease! Not a chance on a rust belt vehicle!

Look at this M38A1 up for auction on BAT with 6 days left on it, if you get on the website and look at the pictures it isn't as nice as Ira's was.
Might keep a eye on it to see what it does go for in 6 more days if it is at $10,000 now.

That's what I thought bob, crazy money and it is pretty rough if you look at the underside in the pictures.

I guess we're a bit too sensitive as to what an M38A1 should be after the Pelago epic:

Additional service included fitting a 12-volt ignition and distributor

The lighting and electrical components are inoperative due to the absence of a wiring harness, rust is visible in the battery compartment, and no top is included.

    Oil leak at oil pump

    The emergency brake needs repair.

This vehicle used to be an M38A1, but needs a LOT of work. The metal looks pretty good though. It's more CJ 5 than M38 now.
