Got a question for all you guy’s!!!
I have a steering wheel for sale on Willy’s for Sale that came off my project when I got it “a 52 M38” and a guy in Florida is interested in it. He’s got a “Spotless 51 M38” his is 17”s in diameter and mine is 13”s and they both say Sheller on a spoke on the back.
Which one is correct and where does the incorrect one belong?

The 17" is the correct diameter for the '46 2A through the early Cj5 Jeeps. This includes the M38 and M38a1. The WWII jeeps did use a smaller diameter wheel, but it was a different style than the later jeeps. They did not have plastic covering the spokes, but just the outside diameter has the plastic covering. These were 15" in diameter.
Scheller made steering wheels for a lot of different applications from lawn tractors to construction equipment, so it would be difficult to figure what exactly a 13" steering wheel would fit. The bonus to using a 13" wheel on a power steering equipped jeep would be that you would retain the look of the original, but you wouldn't need the leverage of the original sized wheel.

Thanks GM that cleared it up, I can’t figure out where that 13” wheel came from.
