    Bendix VS Autolite

I've been looking for a 24v distributor that's affordable and I was wondering if I can use a Bendix distributor in an M38A1. It looks the same in the pictures but I want to be sure. Any help is very much appreciated.

I am not an M38A1 authority, but as I look at various parts listings, it appears that a number of vendors made distributors for the M38A1. I have noted data plates with Bendix, Autolite and even some company called "Ignitor".

Just remember - M38A1 distributors were, like most government pieces and parts, built to a standard set of drawings by the lowest bidder.

If it is really an M38A1 distributor, it should not matter who made it - they were just the cheapest bidder on that particular procurement.

Each should be built in accordance to the mil spec standards. In my experience, we switch vendors at the drop of a hat, with no forward notice. LarrBeard is very correct that everything military is all built by the lowest bidder.
