Brought my 52 Willys m38a1 (mostly 52 i think) home Monday and the first order of business is tires. The guy I got it from recommended that since I'll be driving it back and forth to my hunting club that's several miles from home, i should get smaller tread. I'm thinking going back to the original style since the dirt road I'll be traveling isn't too hairy.
Any recommendations, advice?
Also, thanks for letting me in here!

Welcome! That is a fine looking A1.
The original military non directional tires are suited for off road and dry road conditions. With the center section being solid, you would be hard pressed to load the Jeep down enough to create enough of a contact patch to utilize the outer tread. In my opinion, I would find some radial all terrain tires to mount on for everyday travel. This would give you the best road manners possible.
