I'm a new member and just bought a '58 CJ5 with a Dauntless 225 for the head end. I want to change the differential ratio to a 4.27 without changing the axle width. The CJ5 still has the original dana 25 front and 44 rear axles with the 5.38 ring and pinions and I'm having a hard time finding a cheap way to do it. Can you use the differential off a scout axle and remount it on the Jeep using the Jeep's axle tubes and axles? I haven't read of anyone doing that, but most people want to go wider, not stay the same. Thanks. John
