    Presentacion

    Saludos

Good morning to everybody. My name is Carlos Gerardo Rengifo S. resident in Popayan Colombia, I am fortunate to enjoy a Jeep Willys CJ5 with engine 134F, 1972 (assembly of Lara Hnos) in Colombia. Its originality is 95% since I have some changes. Now I have failures, like the fuel pump because the diaphragm and the internal valves of the same are constantly damaged by the alcohol that mixes with the gasoline generating excessive wear, recently I have problems with the ignition, I have changed the whole system high, but I could not start the engine, the battery runs out first. It would be good to help in this regard. The adjustment of the platinum is 0.20, I have verified the capacitor and coil and it is fine. I will publish my photos in a next installment.

I will pass this text through google, I hope you can understand me

    Welcome Carl Gerard.
    The translation is good enough.
First, I would ensure that along with the fuel pump, that the carburetor is not damaged by the ethanol. The rubber within the carb is broken down by the alcohol in the fuel.
Next, if you are getting fuel, then you need to check spark. It sounds like you might need to check your breaker points. Take a piece of sand paper and clean the contacts of corrosion. If that checks out, then inspect the cap and rotor.
This should get you going. Let us know if you need anything else.

Saludos y gracias

Excuse me gmwillys, my English is very bad. Even though I have family in the USA, I have not been able to learn it.

Good morning, I turned it on and I'm happy. It was the bad platinums. I send you video and image of the state of the platinum, which according to the mechanic had changed and was false. However, I charge them, like 20 thousand Colombian pesos. Send me your comments of the synchronization light data. Please help me with the synchronization, because although my Jeep does not seem to have problems, I do not know how to check the set-up, because I do not see marks on the pulleys. How is it done? Greetings and thanks

    .....

I do not understand your recent response.

Tomorrow I'll take a walk in this fabulous Jeep.

I'll have to wait until I can get back to a desktop computer to translate all the details to know exactly what you are asking.
From watching the video, the fuel pump is working as it should. The pulse looks to be correct. The RPM on the timing light is spot on with the amount of advance and retarding done. The points have seen better days. A quick reference for setting the points, use a match book cover to set the points. That will get you close. Fine tune by adjusting the dwell.
