Nothing wrong with recycling a few road signs. With the rat rod craze still going on, you are in fashion. Looks good!

    Very nice work, indeed.

Recycled road signs also make good floor patches for deer stands. They don't rot and the squirrels and critters can't chew them up.

Here's some pictures of the aluminum plating I did. I did it top and bottom in the worst of places. Covering the steel with rust encapsulating paint. After getting it all sealed up I think I'll squirt some of that expandable foam in the middle and keep the water and dirt out

It is a bit unconventional, but it works.

I have a question about the type of foam you are going to use ... is it a closed cell foam that won't trap and hold water?

Once upon a time a long time ago we used a foam pad as a vibration snubber in a military radio. Someone didn't read specification MIL-TFD-41 (Make It Like - The Freakin' Drawing - 4 ONcE) and procured an open cell foam pad that ended up acting like a sponge and causing a LOT of internal corrosion.

I've been cautious about foams since then.

Look at these worn hanger bolts

Both of them on the rear front or worn through the bronze bushings and through the first Leaf of the spring. That could have been ugly out on the road at highway speed. But I got it all fixed now everything it's 100% new. Hanger bolts Springs bushings shackles everything sweet.

    Spring Shackle bolts and bushings

Yep - we're like Farmer's Insurance, we've been there and seen that.

I make sure to keep grease in them now...
