Last weekend at the show I had a lot of folks looking at the ’48 and commenting about my retaining the 6-volt system. There were also several guys who talked about converting to 12-volts and how much trouble they had with “12-volt to 6-volt” converters for gauges and console lights. The older mechanical vibrating contact units don’t work very well and the “electronic resistors” lose the magic smoke or blow fuses.

Now, as I think about this for a bit, what the real definition is, is for a “13.2 to 7.2-volt converter” because that is closer to where real electrical systems run at cruise speed. What are some good sources for reliable converters like this?
