    Thanks! Perfect pictures. The drive line you have would help out a lot of the people who have the old style Detroit. I can now clearly see how it is set up.

    Another fix for LarrBeard's 48' Detroit style driveshaft problem

    Larry, did you ever find a 53' with a Timken axle you can get an End Yoke off of? It appears the Timken 51540 Axle was also used in 48' through 53' Ford pickups and maybe even some cars. From what I can tell from googling the Ford's, it looks like the Ford used a Spicer style yoke and U-Joint.

    No - I never found any replacements for those strange u-joints and other stuff. The joints and boots are good, so I'm holding off on any driveline projects just now.

    We discover more and more about these old trucks as we go along.

    His truck is a '53, so it is 4WD with a shorter one piece driveshaft - no center support bracket and bearing.
