upgrading from a block of wood

Gents:I'm looking for info on how to get my window modulater working on '70 Jeepster.Every thing works, but I can't figure out how to keep the pin on the crank,in the slot on the bottom of the window. It's a tight spot, and the pin is made of some hard steel.I was gonna drill it and put a kotter key thru it but no luck. There probably was a cap on the end of the pin originally,I would guess, but thats long gone, thanks for your input,....churchkey

Can you use a Roll Pin? I have used them to replace a few Machined Pins here and there. They are spring steel. You tap a slightly oversize pin into the hole. The spring steel is by nature fairly hard. They are strong and stay in. I use them on the distributor collar, that holds the shaft in the distributor of the motor. They come in a lot of sizes and are cheap.
