    Wheel size

    My 1955 CJ5 came with either 15"or 16" wheels it has 15" on it now is there an advantage to go 16"

    In Jeep applications, the added rim size allows for a larger tire diameter. The added ground clearance between the axles and the ground, is the single most important part of sustained forward motion on bad terrain.

    There is an advantage to using the same size diameter tire on a larger rim, to reduce the side wall height. This adds stability in the tire and aids in high speed cornering. This is one reason why you see the move to larger rims on passenger and performance cars, among others.
