    Just wanted to say Hey.

    Hey,

Been lurking here for a while and finally got around to registering. Have a 1953ish (title says '53) truck that I use as a daily driver for work. I have been able to pick up some good info and tips from all of you and just wanted to say thanks for making this site the valuable tool that it is.

Well, the first rule of Jeep is that what you see is what you have, believe nothing someone else wrote down or told you. That rule may have already come into play here.

Your truck is 1953(ish), no doubt - maybe 'ish".

Your truck has a "five bar" grille, you count the top and bottom bars. In 1953 the truck went to a "three bar" grille. You probably have a 1952 truck (back then the dealers would send back titles for unsold vehicles and the factory would change the year if there were no significant model changes.)

Is it a key start or push-in floor pedal? 1952 introduced key start.

We can get a better idea of the year from the serial number - those numbers are a bit more reliable when you look for truck info.

Not many 67-year old trucks still working for a living....

It is a key start. So at least that part is after '52.

I don't think the previous owner was very concerned about staying original. It could be a melting pot of Willis parts from different years. Of course the biggest meatball in that pot is the 327 chevy engine under the hood.

Never be a show truck but it gets me to and from the job site (with some extra style points).

Style points add up the fastest! Even hard core Willys traditionalist don't mind a V8 conversion.

Especially if those style points are related to a classic Chevy 327 under the hood! What a 60's thing it was to put that little 327 in everything you could find. What a sweet truck. LarrBeard keeps pushing me to get one. I love those Willys trucks!
