    Jeepster vs Wagon Frames

Hi Is there any difference between the 2WD Jeepster and Wagon frames?

The wheel base is the same, but will need to look through the frame drawings to look at the body mount measurements.

The Jeepster is kind of an unknown animal to us, but I will share what is only an opinion.

The 2WD trucks, 4WD trucks, Sedan Deliveries and Station Wagons shared pretty much a common frame that could handle up 5200 pounds GVW, with cutouts for PTO shafts, carrier bearings and all sort of miscellaneous auxiliary equipment.

On the other hand, the Jeepster was a lightweight runabout.

I suspect that the frames are going to be different.

A question - do you have frame problems with your Jeepster?

The frame has to be pretty bad to not be saved.

This is kind of like going to the Animal Shelter and looking at the kittens. You want to take them all home with you.

Oh, by the way, look at the u-joint in the Jeepster - same as the '48 2WD truck!

At some past in her past, someone with a cutting torch removed the frame ears on the planar suspension, then cut the X frame, Several places have welded ears and an additional crossmember in front of the engine cross member. It was done very crudely and without thought.

I found a 49 donor frame and in the process of stripping down for the media blaster. I will then rust proof the frame interior and paint the frame in prep for a swap.

Give me a chance to clean up any drivetrain issues before painting the body and re-assembly. Winter project for sure
