Thread: Virtual Willys MB

Hybrid View

Someone from the Quebec Willys owner's club has an MB grill and he took some measurement for me and provided pictures.

I'm quite lucky to get these exact measurement.

I'll be good to go with these:

Meet the new front grill with the added details such as the small recess at the center top and the small beer belly at the bottom, oval headlight hole and filets on sharp corners.

Here's the original picture of the belly

    And now the new one.

Tomorrow I'll go from here and modify the fenders accordingly.

    Thanks you Guys!

After remodeling the grill, I did the fenders, firewall portion of the tub and began the hood. Here is where I stand right now.

While posting this update, I realized I forgot the foot rest on the side of the tub, the shovel holder and recess on the side and noticed the hole for the windshield bracket is too low.

Making slow progress, but making progress.

Just got the first print test of half the portion of the front tub, some details are great but the printing limitations on the top is nagging me.

But these are due to the printing process itself. Not much I can do to solve this other than sand and paint which is something I wish not to do.

The other option is to make the top of the tub flat. The problem is because it is curved.

This is like watching a Jeep grow from a seed!

bb that gear shift might be a little on the large side.

Thanks for the feedback, I've made adjustment for the shifter. I have reduce the size of the shifter width at the ball side from 2mm to 1.5. It is tapering from the floor side where the diameter of the shifter is at 2.5mm. I reduced the size of the ball from 6mm to 4mm. We'll see if it's still printable.

I may have found a solution for the roughness on the top of the firewall. I will cut the firewall in two along the driver-passenger axe and print them on the split face. We'll see later today if that looks good or not. But here is the new approach

    Very successful day.

Here is the right portion of the firewall/dash that I printed split in two.

Tomorrow I will be assembling the left portion and paint them. We will have an almost complete front of the MB.
