I've been eyeballing some plasma cutters for the garage-ma-hall.... and a well used ironworker sheer/punch press. I just don't know if I want to spend the kind of cash on a really good one. The last shop I worked we invested in a ESAB, and it would leave a perfect edge, (if I would use a piece of angle iron as a guide). Very little dressing needed by the grinder, just to round off the edges for being hand friendly.
I would suggest a long-time brand if planning to keep it. I purchased the Hypertherm 65 from my local welding supply store and have been very pleased with performance; but this month they will no longer manufacture this unit per website. What does that mean, not sure. It says the will continue to supply consumables. Maybe it is just the model # being discontinued? Guess time will tell.

My miller tig and mig units haven't given me one issue(6 years now). I guess in some cases you get what you pay for. Buy once and be happy with it.

Finally got a little time to visit the Willys. With work, day at the vet, Wife graduating with her Masters, and then tornado's; been interesting around here.

But, hope to get back on this project. If I'm lucky, I may even try to relocate the rear differential later this week

Here are some pics where I was trying to lay down some wire. Self taught, so I do NOT claim to be a welder. And, I'm not a contortionist, but feel like it sometimes while trying to place a weld.

JB your welding looks pretty darn good!!!
Self taught is the best teaching method anyways, nothing a little die grinder can’t fix up to make it look like a factory weld!

You don't need to apologize for any of those welds. Smooth surface and good penetration.

Well, I would say that the 4BT should sit very nicely in its new home. The welds and the whole fabrication job look very good. I'm impressed by you guys who make metal do your bidding.

Can't ask for any better welds than that. Well done!
