    going backwards..

69 Jeepster v-6 w/Rochester carb..went to put in carb kit, broke 1 stud trying to remove carb from intake manifold.I replaced pump and gaskets, now gas really pours thru it..I think I need to remove carb to get at ball bearing in very bottom of carb, thats possibly not stopping the flow of gas as it should..should I remove intake manifold or will I really be going backwards then

Hello churchkey, I am not sure why you want to remove the intake. I would avoid that if you can. It sounds like the float isn't closing in the carburetor. The ball bearing in the bottom of the carb is the check valve for the accelerator pump. I doubt that's why it leaking fuel. I would avoid removing the intake manifold unless you cant get the broken carburetor stud out.
