    Greetings from Long Beach, California

    Hi gang,
New owner of a Willys Jeep and thank you for having me.
I have NO Idea What Model or year (Yet) and know nothing about them.

I found some RED paint under the cracking peeling Green which I suspect was added on and not from the factory and did a Google Search for "Willys Jeep Red Paint" and I "think" it may be a CJ2A...although I am not 100% certain yet

I have looked for the obvious Plates and Stampings but they have all been removed or are not there (or perhaps I haven't yet found them) and I have looked in all of the locations referenced in THIS

So anyway, I will not be pouring a bunch of money into this, I will just get it running and make it a "Bar Hopper" for around town driving once I get it all figured out.

ALSO, someone has put a Ford 6 cylinder in it which I will get running soon enough.

I am here to absorb and learn and hopefully contribute and reciprocate to others doing the same as me.

I am looking forward to all of your Wisdom, and Constructive Comments

    Best,

    Tom

    Welcome Tom!

As Bmorgil stated, it sure looks like a good starting point! Please share some more photos, and we can sure narrow down to exactly what model you have.

Here is a question for GMWillys, our identification expert:

In one of the side pictures, there are "vents" or "gills" in the fender well just forward of the driver's left foot. Are those tell tales for a particular model or version?

    (I'm learning about the smallerJeeps)

The Civilian Jeeps all had the scallops up until the M38A1/CJ5 model came out. The MB and GPW WWII military Jeeps did not have the scallops, but the later Korean conflict era military Jeeps did have them. The reason for the vents was for the L134 engines having the exhaust under the intake and carb. The vents are there to remove some of the heat from under the hood.
